Davidson Express

Davidson Express is a five-piece combo playing a mixture of traditional bluegrass standards and local folk originals. With fine picking and fiddling on classics like Salt Creek and the Orange Blossom Special, tight 3- and 4-part harmonies on old favorites like Old Joe Clark and Rocky Top, and witty, insightful lyrics on new favorites like Atlanta and Roundabout Davidson, Davidson Express offers bluegrass with a twist.
DX is as Charlotte as it gets: a software engineer, a middle school teacher, a food distributor, a bank vice president, and a college professor, brought together by preschools, jam sessions, and a common love of music. Playing together since 2006, Sherman Campbell (fiddle), David Conner (banjo), Tony Hoover (mandolin), Cameron Swallow (guitar), and John Wertheimer (bass) have played Davidson's Concert on the Green, in the Mooresville Concert Series, at Summit Coffee, for church events, weddings, receptions, and other private gatherings.
